Job summary

Doccla is seeking a Head of Data (Maternity Cover) to lead the data function from January 2027, with handover from the current Head of Data. The role requires senior credibility with NHS partners and clinicians, and responsibility for evaluating impact and shaping contracts.

You’ll manage a team of analysts and engineers, oversee data standards across the stack, and ensure data quality in a live clinical service while driving strategic data initiatives across the organisation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in healthcare data, analytics or population health, incl. 2+ years leading a team.
• Hands‑on experience of health economics and value‑based care, incl. measuring financial impact.
• Designed and delivered evaluations of healthcare interventions using quasi‑experimental methods.
• Deep familiarity with healthcare data (claims, EHR or SUS/HES) and clinical coding (ICD‑10, SNOMED CT).
• Experience of risk stratification and population health analytics.
• Strong SQL and working knowledge of analytics engineering (dbt or similar).
• Excellent communication from board level to analysts and clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Shape value‑based contracts; input data to NHS partnerships and define outcomes.
• Own evaluations of services using quasi‑experimental methods and present results to commissioners.
• Build scalable evaluation capability across the team.
• Build and maintain data sharing partnerships with NHS organisations within UK GDPR.
• Set population health strategy in collaboration with clinical/product leadership.
• Lead and develop the data team; set priorities and support growth.
• Review data models and uphold standards in modelling and tooling.
• Provide senior data oversight and act as the senior data voice in leadership discussions.
