Job summary

Secure Trust Bank Group is seeking a Head of Data Engineering to lead a high‑performing team and shape the evolution of our Azure Databricks data platform. You will work with senior stakeholders to translate the Enterprise Data Strategy into practical, governed data products that drive regulatory compliance, operational excellence and advanced analytics.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing Data Engineering teams within a complex organisation.
• Strong expertise in Azure Databricks, cloud data platforms and modern lakehouse architectures.
• Deep understanding of data engineering best practices, including ETL/ELT, data pipelines, orchestration and data product delivery.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and inspire the Data Engineering function, fostering a high-performing team culture and engineering excellence.
• Drive the delivery, adoption and continuous enhancement of the Azure Databricks Enterprise Data Platform.
• Establish a sustainable in-house data engineering capability, ensuring effective knowledge transfer from strategic partners.
• Develop scalable and reusable data ingestion, transformation and CI/CD frameworks to support efficient platform delivery.
• Deliver trusted, governed data products through a modern medallion architecture, ensuring high standards of quality, security and resilience.
• Collaborate with Architecture and Data Governance teams to embed robust data models, lineage, ownership and control frameworks.
• Partner with business leaders across Finance, Credit Risk, Operations and Savings to deliver data solutions that support strategic and regulatory objectives.
• Prioritise engineering activity across business change, regulatory commitments and operational demands, providing clear visibility of risks and dependencies.
• Build team capability through coaching, mentoring, structured development and Databricks-focused training and accreditation.
• Manage technology partners, platform performance and service delivery, while supporting the retirement of legacy data solutions and reporting processes.
