Description
Job Title: Head of Data & Analytics
Salary: £100,000- £110,000 + Bonus + EV Allowance
Location: Hybrid (2-3 days per week in London office)
We're looking for a Head of Data and Analytics to own our data strategy and turn the information flowing through Pod into decisions that grow the business. You'll build and lead a small central data team, and work in partnership with data analysts based across our functions, from installer operations to customer experience, giving them the standards and direction to do their best work.
This is a senior leadership role reporting to our CIO. You'll set the direction for how Pod uses data and the standards for managing it well, and you'll be the person our leadership team turns to for the insight behind our biggest decisions.
How we work matters as much as the tools. We follow a 'manage the core, free the edge' approach.
The core is well-governed and observable. Working closely with Architecture on a shared data model so published facts are consistent, joinable and open. Platform Engineering builds and operates the platform. Software teams identify and publish facts they own.
This role owns the reporting layer: the single, trusted set of business measures and definitions the rest of Pod reports from. Teams across the organisation, from operations to sales to finance, are then free to explore and act on this data for themselves, supported by the analysts this role leads.
We favour open, engine-agnostic formats over proprietary warehouse lock-in, and we are building AI and agents in as a first-class way to explore and interpret data.
Here's what our CIO had to say:
\\"At Pod, data isn't a support function, it's a core part of how we make decisions, serve customers and scale our business. We're looking for someone who can bring together strategy, governance, analytics and AI to create a trusted data foundation that helps every team move faster and make better decisions. This is an opportunity to shape how data is used across the organisation and have a direct impact on our growth, customer experience and operational excellence.\\"
You’ve successfully led a data, analytics or business intelligence function, ideally within a fast-growing or scaling organisation. You're comfortable setting strategy, building capability and ensuring data delivers measurable value across the business.
You bring experience across data engineering, business intelligence and analytics, with the ability to move confidently between technical discussions and commercial priorities. You can provide direction on modern data architectures while helping stakeholders turn insights into action.
You’ve built, developed and led high-performing teams, creating an environment where people can do their best work. You also know how to influence and guide colleagues outside of your direct reporting line, building alignment and consistency across multiple teams.
You have experience working within a data mesh or domain-oriented operating model, where business teams own and publish the data products and reporting facts they generate. You understand how to balance local ownership with strong governance, standards and consistency.
You’ve delivered practical applications of AI to improve how people access, explore and interpret data. Whether through natural language interfaces, agent-based experiences or semantic layers, you understand both the opportunities and the governance considerations required to deploy these capabilities responsibly.
You're familiar with contemporary data platforms and tools, including data lakes, open table formats such as Parquet and Iceberg, ETL and ELT pipelines, multiple query engines, and BI tools such as Power BI. You're comfortable working across cloud environments including AWS, Azure and GCP, and you favour open, flexible architectures over proprietary lock-in.
You have a track record of turning data into business outcomes, whether that's increasing revenue, improving operational efficiency, enhancing customer experiences or enabling better strategic decisions. You're able to demonstrate the impact your work has delivered.
You build credibility quickly with senior leaders and are confident presenting complex information in a clear and accessible way. You know how to challenge constructively, influence decision-making and help leaders use data with confidence.
Few data leadership roles offer the chance to build with a genuinely blank sheet of paper. At Pod, you'll have the opportunity to define how data, analytics and AI are used across a growing business that's helping hundreds of thousands of customers electrify their driving. You'll work directly with senior leaders, influence company-wide strategy, and establish the trusted data foundation that powers decision-making across every function. If you're looking for a role where you can combine technical leadership, commercial impact and meaningful purpose, you'll find plenty of scope to make your mark here.
