Job summary

Stockport Nub News in Greater Manchester seeks an experienced Head of Risk & Compliance & MLRO to lead the firm’s regulatory framework and internal controls. You will shape policies, advise senior leadership and ensure robust compliance across the organisation.

The role requires significant compliance experience (ideally in a law firm), strong SRA/AML knowledge and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical guidance for colleagues.

Qualifications

• Significant compliance experience, ideally in a law firm.
• Strong knowledge of SRA requirements and AML legislation.
• Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and challenging when needed.
• Provide practical, commercially minded advice with clear reasoning.
• Own initiatives, build relationships and drive improvements.
• Degree level education.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the firm's compliance framework, policies and procedures.
• Advise the COLP and Board on regulatory requirements and emerging risks.
• Assume MLRO duties, including SARs and disclosures to the NCA.
• Oversee AML risk assessments and CDD processes.
• Manage complaints and liaise with the Legal Ombudsman and SRA.
• Oversee audits, risk registers and compliance breaches.
• Deliver training to help colleagues apply requirements in practice.

The role?

• Delivering training that helps colleagues understand how the requirements apply to their work.
