Job Description:

The Head of Compliance will lead a team of six, overseeing all compliance functions for a commodities trading business focused on derivatives. Holding SMF16/17 responsibilities, this role ensures regulatory adherence, drives a robust compliance culture, and mitigates risks in a dynamic trading environment, with a preference for expertise in oil or energy commodities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement compliance policies.
  • Oversee monitoring, reporting, and advisory functions for derivatives trading.
  • Lead and mentor a small team in compliance.
  • Serve as the primary regulatory contact, fulfilling SMF16/17 obligations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and maintain controls for commodities trading activities.
  • Advise senior leadership on regulatory changes and their impact.
  • Deliver training to foster compliance awareness across the organisation.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven compliance experience in trading houses (especially oil/energy), brokerages or market makers.
  • Deep understanding of derivatives regulations and trading operations.
  • Prior team management and SMF16/17 experience is highly desirable.
  • Strategic, proactive thinker with resilience in high-pressure environments.
