As part of the Steyn Group, we work with our Investment, Asset Management, and Development Teams on acquiring and refurbishing assets, managing over 2200 rooms across 19 sites.

About the Role

The Head of Compliance and Facilities will oversee compliance for Almero Student, working closely with Property Managers, Asset Management, and Development Teams. This remote role is ideally based near Birmingham/Midlands or Manchester, with frequent travel to sites and the London Office. Access to transport links or a car is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and improve health and safety policies tailored to student accommodation and other properties.
• Promote safety awareness and compliance across the organization.
• Utilize technical building knowledge for project support, including risk assessments and building defect management.
• Support Property Managers with training and guidance on compliance.
• Review potential new acquisitions and make recommendations.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Manage contractor safety programs and external relationships.
• Perform site compliance checks and report on performance.
• Manage procurement for contractors ensuring value and quality.
• Ensure properties are compliant through regular site visits.
• Stay updated on legislation and industry trends.
• Lead compliance strategies across all properties, ensuring adherence to UK legislation including HMO laws, Fire Safety Orders, and the Building Safety Act.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Experience leading compliance in multi-site organizations.
• Knowledge of The Building Safety Act 2022, especially for high-rise residential buildings.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and compliance auditing skills.
• Excellent communication, data analysis, and report writing skills.
• Proficiency with IT systems like Microsoft Office, Meridian, and StuRents.
• Results-driven with a track record of success.
