Marchant Recruitment is seeking an innovative Head of Art & Design Technology for an academically focused secondary school in Gloucester. The role leads Art and Design across KS3–KS5, oversees health and safety, NEA standardisation, and technician line management.

You'll collaborate with senior leaders to refine curriculum sequencing, manage budgets, coordinate annual exhibitions, and maintain rigorous studio environments. This is a full-time, permanent post starting January.

Competenze

• QTS with an honours degree in Fine Art, Design, Architecture or Product Design.

Job Overview

Art and Design Technology occupy a prominent place within this school's curriculum and creative culture. The successful candidate will oversee fine art, photography, 3D design, and materials technology across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, managing workshop and studio health and safety, non-exam assessment (NEA) standardisation, and technician line management.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will refine curriculum sequencing, manage departmental budgets, curate annual exhibitions, and maintain rigorous studio and workshop environments. This is a full-time, permanent contract.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with an honors degree in Fine Art, Design, Architecture, or Product Design
• Demonstrated track record of strong GCSE and A-Level examination outcomes in visual or technical arts
• Valid machine safety certifications (DATA/CLEAPSS) and proven experience in subject leadership or key stage coordination
• An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
