Job summary

Syngenta Crop Protection seeks a Lead, AI Enablement Technologies to run a cross-cutting function within Engineering and Technology. You will own the AI infrastructure, platform, and safety framework across R&D IT, guiding specialists in HPC, AI inference, and engineering AI.

You will shape the technology roadmap, manage HPC investments, and build capabilities across R&D teams. The role combines hands-on and strategic leadership in a global, collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• Expert-level depth in AI infrastructure and MLOps, including model serving at scale.
• Strong HPC literacy to direct HPC specialists and engage with scientists.
• Proven engineering leadership running specialist teams and hiring senior engineers.
• Hands-on habits: read code, review architecture, and evaluate tools.
• Excellent communication to explain complex AI infrastructure to executives and engineers.
• Experience designing safety frameworks including red-teaming and model evaluation at scale.
• Proven track record in budgeting and cost optimization for infrastructure investments.

Responsibilities

• Own AI Enablement workloads: HPC, AI inference, agentic foundations, upskilling, and engineering AI.
• Lead area leads and guide HPC, AI inference, and engineering AI specialists.
• Define AI infrastructure roadmap, model serving stacks, and evaluation harnesses.
• Manage GPU procurement and HPC cluster lifecycle based on utilisation data.
• Partner with data, analytics, and bioinformatics IT to define API contracts and cost attribution models.
• Develop and deliver capability-building programs for R&D teams on AI best practices.
