Job summary

Swap is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the Agentic Commerce team, shaping the next generation of AI-powered storefronts. You will partner with Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams to set priorities, scale high-performing squads, and deliver impact at pace.

You’ll champion AI-first practices, drive SDLC excellence, and embed best-in-class software engineering and cloud-native architecture. A hands-on leader who can recruit top talent and build a culture of ownership will thrive.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in leadership.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering and Commercial teams.
• Hands-on contribution when needed; start-up/scale-up experience.
• Experience with agentic systems, LLM-powered products, or AI-driven workflows.
• Distributed systems and cloud-native architecture; GCP a plus.
• Background in e-commerce, fintech, or high-growth domains.

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow and inspire a team of engineers on the Agentic Commerce team, creating ownership and high performance.
• Drive execution across the full SDLC, from discovery to delivery with a focus on quality and speed.
• Embed AI-first thinking to automate processes and accelerate development cycles.
• Align roadmap priorities with Product, Engineering and Commercial leadership; surface dependencies early.
• Define and uphold engineering best practices across code quality, design, testing and deployment.
• Foster continuous improvement through retrospectives and bottleneck removal.
• Stay close to JavaScript ecosystem and emerging technologies to steer technical direction.
