Job summary

YardandGroom is seeking a capable yard/groom to oversee the yard, staff, and horses in a busy racing stable environment. You will ensure daily tasks are completed to a high standard and report any health or welfare issues to the team.

The role involves riding fast work to hacking, yard maintenance, mucking out, feeding, field cleaning, and general duties. A clean driving licence and 3.5t lorry experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Riding fast work experience desired.
• Knowledge of lunging and flatwork beneficial.
• Valid driver's license and own transport preferred.
• Experience driving a 3.5t lorry considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the yard, horses and staff to ensure daily tasks are completed to a high standard.
• Check horses are well and report any issues; liaise with the vet as needed.
• Ride horses for fast work and hacking where required.
• Muck out, feed, clean fields and maintain the yard.
• Move electric fencing, tack up and groom horses.

Job description

The role includes (but not limited too) overseeing the yard horses and people. making sure all daily tasks are carried out to a good standard, checking all horses are well, reporting and seeing to any issue, liaising with the vet when necessary, riding (fast work to hacking ) general yard duties, mucking out, feeding, field cleaning, general yard maintenance, moving electric fencing, tacking up and grooming.

You will be a friendly person who is confident around youngsters and fit thoroughbred horses.

Ideally capable of riding fast work

Knowledge of lunging and flatwork

Hold a clean drivers license with your own mode of transport, ideally experienced / capable of driving a 3.5t lorry

Tractor driving experience an advantage
