Job summary

Potters Resorts Five Lakes is seeking a hands-on Head Kitchen Porter to lead the porter team across two busy kitchens. You will help deliver consistently high cleaning standards, manage rotas with the Executive Head Chef and foster a welcoming team environment.

The role emphasizes leading by example, guiding staff, and maintaining hygiene, safety and efficient wash-up operations in a busy resort kitchen.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Kitchen Porter in a busy kitchen with cleaning and hygiene knowledge.
• Experience guiding colleagues or readiness to take a supervisory step.
• Friendly, fair and approachable, with patience to help new colleagues learn.
• Good organisation and clear communication; ability to prioritise calmly during busy service.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Kitchen Porter team across two kitchens.
• Maintain high cleaning standards and smooth wash-up operations.
• Create a welcoming, supportive working environment and manage shifts.
• Plan rotas, staffing cover and breaks with the Executive Head Chef.
• Provide guidance, feedback and address performance or morale concerns.
• Carry out cleaning schedules and end-of-shift checks.
• Ensure hygiene and health and safety procedures are followed.
• Monitor stocks of cleaning supplies and manage waste appropriately.
