Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of inclusive education across South Hampshire College Group (SHCG). As our new Head of Inclusive Education, you will be at the heart of turning our ambition for inclusion into everyday reality, ensuring every learner has the opportunity to participate, achieve, progress and succeed.

At SHCG, we believe inclusion is everyone's responsibility. We are committed to creating environments where every learner feels they belong, barriers to learning and participation are removed, and the right support is combined with consistently high expectations. You will lead the development of a strong, consistent and ambitious approach to inclusion across our colleges, ensuring that learners who are vulnerable, disadvantaged or at risk of disengagement are supported to thrive.

Reporting to our newly created Director of Inclusive Education and SEND role, you will provide leadership across our Group-wide approach to pastoral support, transition, attendance and learner engagement. You will lead and develop our Transition and Pastoral Support Coaches, ensuring learners receive effective, joined-up support as they transition into college and throughout their learner journey. Through targeted and responsive approaches, you will drive improvements in attendance, engagement, belonging, resilience and learner success.

Your influence will extend beyond individual learner support. Working in close partnership with colleagues across curriculum, quality, safeguarding, Additional Learning Support and student experience, you will play a pivotal role in embedding ambitious, adaptive and inclusive practice throughout SHCG. You will use evidence, insight and learner data to identify priorities, challenge existing practice and drive meaningful improvement. You will also champion professional development, empowering colleagues to translate our commitment to inclusion into the everyday experiences of learners.

This is an opportunity to make a lasting organisational impact. You will shape and deliver evidence-informed, sustainable approaches that bring measurable improvements in attendance, participation, wellbeing, progression and achievement. Most importantly, you will help create a college experience where every learner feels valued, supported and able to fulfil their potential.
