Job summary

St Austell Brewery in Port Gaverne is seeking a hands-on Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping team and ensure a welcoming, well-maintained guest experience. You will manage daily operations, communicate effectively with colleagues, and uphold high standards across 15 en-suite rooms in a historic building, with stairs and no lift.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of housekeeping teams.
• Experience in hospitality housekeeping is preferred.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Strong communication with peers and guests.

Responsibilities

• Lead the housekeeping team to maintain high cleanliness and presentation standards.
• Coordinate daily cleaning schedules for 15 en-suite rooms and public areas.
• Ensure guest rooms are ready on time and well-prepared for arrivals.
• Prioritize safety, cleanliness, and efficient use of supplies.

The 17th century Port Gaverne Hotel is nestled in a beautiful, secluded cove near Port Isaac on North Cornwall's dramatic coast. Relax in our traditional old bar with slate floors, wooden beams and a wide range of proper ales served alongside seasonal, quality food inspired by the bounty on our doorstep.

The Port Gaverne has 15 ensuite rooms, each individually furnished. Please note, our rooms are situated on two floors of the building and because the building is very old, we do not have access to an elevator. All rooms are accessible via a narrow, steep staircase with low ceilings, keeping the natural beauty of the place intact.

The beautiful, peaceful North Cornwall Heritage Coast is on our doorstep, with the beach just moments away.

We’re looking for a Head Housekeeper to join our hard working but close-knit team. You’ll head up the housekeeping team, ensuring a fantastic home away from home experience for all our guests. You will be a hands-on, can do, leader, combining your natural ability to communicate with your outstanding organisational skills.
