Key Duties

1. Programme, arrange, and supervise golf greenkeeping operations.
2. Oversee the setting, operation, and daily maintenance of specialist golf greenkeeping equipment, mowing equipment, and tractors; keep detailed records of work and maintenance.
3. Plan, motivate, and control all maintenance activities across the course.
4. Identify pest, weed, or disease issues and carry out appropriate cultural or chemical controls; set up, calibrate, and check spraying equipment.
5. Assist in surveying, planning, and constructing new greens, tees, and bunkers.
6. Participate in producing and applying liquid and granular fertilisers evenly to greens and tees.
7. Oversee third-party contractors, ensuring compliance with legislation and safety policies.
8. Perform other duties as reasonably required.

Skills and Abilities

• Proven leadership and teamwork skills in a busy greenkeeping environment.
• Ability to implement operational systems and maintain accurate records.
• Capability to handle a diverse workload and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
• Punctuality and flexibility in working hours.
• Experience operating various grounds maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work safely and independently.
• Flexibility to work shifts.

Knowledge and Experience

• Good knowledge of greenkeeping and horticultural practices.
• Understanding of irrigation systems and minor repairs.
• Knowledge of principles related to golf course reconstruction projects.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in grounds maintenance/greenkeeping on a golf course.

Qualifications

• Qualifications specific to machinery operation.
• Qualifications in greenkeeping that add value to the role.
