Job summary

Old Thorns Hotel & Resort is seeking a Head Greenkeeper to lead our Greenkeeping Team and uphold the highest standards of the golf course. You will oversee greens, tees, fairways and bunkers, implementing maintenance programmes to optimise playability.

The role requires proven supervisory experience, strong turf management knowledge and the ability to manage budgets and equipment schedules within a hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Proven supervisory or management experience in greenkeeping.
• Strong knowledge of turf management, horticulture and golf course management.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Experience managing machinery, budgets and maintenance schedules.
• Be qualified in NVQ 2/3 Sports Turf, PA 1, 2 and 6 spraying and hold a Chainsaw Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Greenkeeping Team, ensuring high standards of performance and teamwork.
• Oversee the daily maintenance and presentation of the golf course, including greens, tees, fairways and bunkers.
• Maintain seasonal maintenance programmes to optimise course conditions.
• Manage turf health, irrigation, drainage and effective pest and disease control.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources and purchasing to ensure efficient operations.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and Sustainability standards.
• Work closely with the Golf Team and the wider resort team to deliver an outstanding golf experience for our members and guests.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by senior management, in line with the responsibilities of the role.

Old Thorns Hotel & Resort have an exciting opportunity for a Head Greenkeeper to lead our Greenkeeping Team.

• Lead, manage and develop the Greenkeeping Team, ensuring high standards of performance and teamwork.

• A proactive approach, with a passion for maintaining exceptional course standards.
• Be qualified in NVQ 2/3 Sports Turf, PA 1, 2 and 6 spraying and hold a Chainsaw Licence.
