Job summary

Amazon Data Services UK Limited is seeking a Chief Engineer for Data Centre Engineering Operations to lead electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems across AWS data centers. You will manage planned maintenance, respond to incidents, and partner with external teams to deliver cost-effective reliability and resiliency at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles including switchgear, UPS, transformers, and circuit breakers

Responsibilities

• Train and support the Engineering team in their role of providing electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations.
• Oversee day-to-day operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in data center sites.
• Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center region and support after-hours response.
• Create and deploy standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and AWS staff.
