Job description

Astrea Academy Woodfields has an exciting opportunity for a Head Cook to join their team on a term time basis.

As an essential member of the catering team, you will thrive in a busy environment, be adaptable and flexible, and support colleagues to maintain high professional standards.

As Head Cook you will:

  • Work as part of a team preparing and serving fresh, interesting, and nutritious school meals within budget.
  • Work in accordance with the school food standards, allowing for allergen issues, ensuring full adherence to recipes, food presentation standards, and portion control.
  • Ensure that work is carried out hygienically, safely, and tidily at all times within the prevailing legislative framework.
  • Lead and organise the kitchen in the absence of the Catering Manager.

We are looking for:

  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines whilst paying close attention to detail.
  • Relevant Food Safety and Hygiene certificates.
  • Evidence of recent in-service training and professional development.
