Job summary

Aramark is seeking a skilled Head Chef to lead the kitchen at Hutchesons' Grammar School in Glasgow. You will oversee daily kitchen operations, prepare and serve high-quality meals to pupils and staff, and ensure food safety, allergen handling, and health & safety standards are consistently met.

The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term-time only with 38 weeks per year. Benefits include free meals, on-site parking, apprenticeship opportunities, and life cover with pension.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or senior catering role.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, allergen management, and dietary requirements.
• Sound understanding of health & safety legislation and best practice.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Experience managing kitchen compliance and due diligence systems.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy catering environment.
• Passion for producing high-quality food and delivering outstanding service.

Responsibilities

• Leading the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and catering team.
• Preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality meals to pupils and staff.
• Managing food production to ensure consistency, quality, and presentation standards are maintained.
• Ensuring all food safety, allergen, dietary, and health & safety procedures are followed.
• Managing due diligence records and ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
• Overseeing stock control, ordering, deliveries, and stock rotation.
• Training, supervising, and motivating kitchen team members.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and kitchen organisation.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and school requirements.
• Supporting continuous improvement of food service delivery and customer satisfaction.
