Job summary

Avery Healthcare is looking for a warm, enthusiastic Head Chef to lead the culinary team at Aldridge Care Home in Aldridge, West Midlands. You will oversee menus, staff, and service to ensure residents receive nutritionally balanced, high‑quality meals within budget and IDDSI guidelines.

Responsibilities include approving orders, managing stock, supervising kitchen and Host team, training less experienced staff, and maintaining safe systems of work to protect residents and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience managing a culinary team in the care or hospitality sectors.
• Relevant catering qualification City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ.
• Strong budgeting and cost-control abilities.
• Commitment to high culinary standards for residents.

Responsibilities

• Lead a culinary team to provide nutritionally balanced, high-quality service within budget.
• Prepare modified diets per IDDSI guidelines.
• Place food orders with approved suppliers and manage stock within budget.
• Supervise kitchen staff and the Host team; train unqualified staff.
• Ensure safe systems of work and protect residents, visitors and staff.
