Job summary

HtE Recruitment Limited is helping a pub that plans to launch a new food menu and needs a hands-on head chef to lead the kitchen. You will shape the menu, manage food orders and drive the kitchen operations in a small plates concept with a Sunday roast. A part-time kitchen assistant starts with you and grows to two in time.

The role requires cooking fresh food, strong knife skills, Level 2 Food Hygiene, and the ability to drive to Colchester and Braintree.

Qualifications

• Head chef background, from fresh food, at head chef or sous chef level.
• Ability to create menus including small plates and Sunday roast concepts.
• Food hygiene level 2 and strong knife skills required.

Responsibilities

• Run the kitchen and manage orders.
• Place food orders and assist menu creation with specials and seasonal items.
• Develop the small plates menu priced around £15–£17 and craft a popular Sunday roast.
• Hands-on leadership with core head chef duties and team management.
