Job summary

Chefs Bay Hospitality in Blackburn is seeking a Head Chef to lead the kitchen with passion and creativity. You will manage the catering team, oversee rota planning, stock and waste control, and ensure all allergies are communicated to staff.

You’ll uphold health and safety standards and help shape menus aligned with nutritional needs for residents. The role offers 40 hours per week, with a 7-day rota that includes weekends, and a salary of £30,000–£32,000 per annum DOE, plus enhanced benefits

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience within a similar environment desirable.
• Willingness to complete NVQ Level 3 if not already obtained.
• Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office and internal applications; ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the training, supervision, appraisal, and performance management of the catering team.
• Ensure the staff rota is completed in a timely manner, maintaining staffing levels for each shift.
• Attend meetings and training sessions, on-site and off-site as required.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements; adhere to company policies.
• Maintain Health and Safety knowledge, Basic Food Hygiene, COSHH, safe moving/handling, cross-infection guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Home Manager.
