Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a Head Chef to lead kitchen and dining operations across our homes. You will develop menus, supervise a front-of-house team and deliver high-quality, nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.

You will create warm, welcoming environments, manage budgets and ensure compliance with HACCP and IDDSI dietary guidance. Comprehensive development through the Barchester Chef Academy awaits.

Qualifications

• Ability to lead, motivate and inspire a kitchen and front of house team.
• Develop menus with a resident-centric approach.
• Create nutritious, appetising dishes from fresh produce.
• Coordinate dining areas and front-of-house setup to high standards.
• Manage budgets, audits and stock control.
• Apply HACCP and COSHH principles in daily operations.
• Understand modified diets using the IDDSI framework.
• Support staff recruitment and retention initiatives.
• Provide a warm, welcoming environment in our homes.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and inspire a team, develop and upskill where required.
• Menu development, tailoring around residents to ensure we deliver person-centred hospitality.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked of the highest standards.
• Bake fresh cakes, scones and breads from scratch.
• Assist the front of house team with setting up of the dining areas.
• Work within budget, complete regular audits and stock control.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun environment.
