You will be leading an established kitchen team at All Saints Hospital in Oldham, overseeing the preparation of large-scale meals for staff and service users. Your role extends beyond the kitchen, providing guidance and training to support your team.

You and your catering team will operate the kitchen to hotel/restaurant standards, ensuring smooth operations, a clean environment, tasty menus, and satisfied 'customers'.

As a Head Chef, you will be:

• Coordinating the daily management of the catering team to ensure efficient food production
• Meeting the nutritional and dietary needs of the service users
• Providing meals for staff and visitors according to company policies
• Leading menu planning, offering a varied diet within budget
• Reporting maintenance and servicing needs of catering equipment and environment
• Seeking feedback and developing seasonal menu items to ensure high-quality, nutritious food
• Responding to complaints or incidents, assisting with investigations
• Managing stock and equipment, reporting issues as needed
• Planning staff rotas, managing agency and overtime cover, and covering absences within budget
• Participating in monthly audits to maintain standards

To be successful, you will have:

• GCSE or equivalent in English
• Catering Diploma (City & Guilds/BTEC), Health & Safety, and Food Hygiene Certificates
• City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) in Basic Food Preparation and Cooking
• Basic Food Hygiene certification
• Experience in a similar environment
• Management or supervisory qualification
• Experience in mass catering services
• Skills in menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control, and budgeting

Location: Grange Avenue, Oldham, Greater Manchester, OL8 4EF

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team at All Saints Hospital, supporting people who are deaf or have complex communication needs. The service is culturally sensitive, providing support and rehabilitation with a team of deaf and hearing staff.

All Saints Hospital is a specialist mental health service with self-contained flats for men over 18, helping residents progress towards independent living.
