Wren Hall Nursing Home is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead our catering team and ensure our Family members (residents) and little Wrens Nursery and preschool enjoy a high-quality dining experience every day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare well-balanced, nutritious meals tailored to family members' needs and preferences.
- Order, manage, and maintain adequate stock levels, ensuring freshness and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead, support, and develop the catering team through effective management and ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Ensure the dining experience at Wren Hall consistently meets the highest standards of presentation, taste, and hygiene.
- Develop and implement menus that cater to the dietary requirements of residents and children, including textured modified meals for those with swallowing difficulties.
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and all equipment, following Safer Food Better Business standards.
- Ensure personal and team hygiene standards meet the Nursing Home Hygiene Standards and Food Hygiene Regulations.
- Participate in recruitment, staff development, and performance management of the catering team.
- Report any equipment issues, accidents, incidents, or complaints to the appropriate management personnel.
General Responsibilities:
- Adhere to and promote the home's policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory standards.
- Follow health and safety regulations, including fire safety and infection control policies.
- Attend mandatory training sessions related to food hygiene, safety, and care standards.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct, including punctuality and attendance.
- Participate in team meetings, staff supervisions, and appraisals.
- Ensure the kitchen is maintained to high standards of cleanliness and that quality standards for goods are met.
Requirements:
- Level 3 qualification in Food and Catering Preparation (or equivalent).
- Proven ability to plan menus that meet dietary needs and support overall health and well-being.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills.
- A genuine passion for delivering exceptional food and service in a care setting.
