Job summary

Luso Court Care Centre in Clapham, London is seeking a Head Chef to lead the kitchen team and deliver high quality, nutritious meals for residents with complex nursing needs. You will plan menus, supervise food prep, manage stock and ensure health and safety standards while creating a dining experience that promotes dignity and enjoyment.

You will work closely with the Home Manager and Group Executive Chef, oversee rotas and ensure meals meet dietary requirements, preferences, and budgets.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent culinary qualification.
• Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Experience leading or supervising a kitchen team.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills.
• Ability to plan nutritious menus and manage kitchen operations effectively.
• Experience within a care home or healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.

Job description

Luso Court Care Centre is a newly commissioned specialist care home in Clapham, London supporting adults with complex nursing needs, dementia and mental health conditions. The home offers 80 en suite bedrooms across two floors and provides complex nursing care, specialist dementia care and residential mental health support within a safe and clinically led environment.

Head Chef

• £17.00 per hour
• Full time contract
• Pension, Paid DBS, Uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave based on a full time contract

The Role

As Head Chef, you will lead the kitchen team and oversee the preparation of high quality, nutritious meals that support the health and wellbeing of residents living with complex nursing needs, dementia and mental health conditions.

Working closely with the Home Manager and Group Executive Chef, you will plan balanced menus, manage food preparation and ensure meals meet residents’ dietary requirements and preferences. Your leadership will ensure the kitchen runs efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and presentation.

You will supervise and support the kitchen team, organise staff rotas and oversee stock management, deliveries and food storage. You will also maintain accurate records, monitor kitchen equipment and ensure compliance with food safety and health and safety regulations.

As part of a newly commissioned specialist service, you will play an important role in establishing kitchen routines and delivering a dining experience that promotes comfort, dignity and enjoyment for residents.

What We Are Looking For

• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent culinary qualification
