Job summary

Oundle School is seeking a Head Chef to oversee the preparation of healthy, balanced meals for pupils, staff and visitors. The role focuses on high-quality food production and kitchen management across several dining rooms and some hospitality duties.

You will supervise Chefs, Kitchen Porters and Pot Wash, reporting to the Senior Head Chef, with a strong emphasis on development and compliance with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Production is required.
• Food Safety and Allergen Awareness demonstrated.
• Proven track record in providing quality food.
• Willingness to learn, adapt and develop continuously.

Responsibilities

• Produce healthy, balanced meals for pupils, staff and visitors within budgetary levels.
• Manage food production and kitchen operations across multiple dining rooms/outlets; some hospitality responsibility.
• Report to the Senior Head Chef; oversee Chefs and day-to-day duties of Kitchen Porters and Pot Wash.
• Work within Catering team with an 80-hour bi-weekly rota, early or late shifts and alternate weekends.

Job description

The Head Chef is responsible for the successful production of healthy, balanced food to pupils, staff, and visitors at all services, within pre- determined budgetary levels. The Head Chef role focuses on food production and kitchen management with responsibility for the multiple dining rooms/outlets and some hospitality., Working within the Catering team, the role holder will report to the Senior Head Chef, and is responsible for Chefs, with day to day responsibility for, Kitchen Porters and Pot Wash. For the right candidate this role will offer variety, diversity, and plenty of development opportunities. To be successful in this role you will have been awarded at least NVQ level 2 in Food Preparation and Production, Food Safety and Allergen Awareness with knowledge and awareness of health and safety regulations. You will need to demonstrate previous experience working as a chef, have a proven track record in providing quality food and be willingness to learn and adapt, with a focus on continuous development.

A positive, flexibly attitude with the ability to prioritise and organise workloads is imperative.

Hours of work: 80 hours over a 2-week rota, working either early or late shifts. Working alternative weekends.

Working Weeks: 41.4 working weeks per annum, paid for 47.21 weeks to include annual leave entitlement.

Salary: £31,838 pro-rata per annum, (£35,077 FTE)
