Job summary

techUK, the UK tech trade association, is seeking a Head of AI Adoption to lead its AI strategy within the Tech & Innovation portfolio. Based in London, the role shapes policy-aligned initiatives, runs roundtables and flagship events, and grows the AI membership base.

Responsibilities

• Own techUK's AI adoption strategy - positions, messaging and activity - ensuring it stays relevant, credible and influential.
• Be a visible, active presence in the UK's AI ecosystem: speaking at events, representing techUK, and building genuine relationships with industry leaders and key stakeholders.
• Act as secretariat for techUK's AI Adoption Coalition and new AI Forum, scoping, planning and delivering their events and working groups.
• Lead delivery of techUK's flagship AI activity - reports, insight series, roundtables, dinners, focus weeks and summits - including writing the agenda, booking speakers and securing sponsors for techUK's annual AI conference each January.
• Track the AI adoption debate closely, building close ties with the AI community and turning insight into a calendar of high-impact activity.
• Champion the programme externally through articles, speaking engagements and networking.
• Work across techUK's Markets and Policy teams so our AI adoption narrative stays consistent and well promoted.
• Grow techUK's AI membership base, helping identify and recruit new members and spot new business opportunities.

Role Overview: The UK has named AI adoption as the single most powerful lever for kickstarting growth and productivity across the economy. techUK's members are the companies building the solutions that will make that happen - in industry, in public services, and everywhere in between. We're looking for a Head of AI Adoption to lead our push to turn that potential into everyday reality.

This is a high-profile, senior role at the heart of techUK's fast-paced Tech and Innovation programme, which spans AI, robotics, quantum, digital ID and more. Working directly for the Director of Technology and Innovation, you'll shape and deliver techUK's strategy for accelerating responsible AI adoption across UK industry - starting with the Industrial Strategy sectors identified as holding the greatest potential for UK success. You'll also take the reins of techUK's new AI Adoption Coalition, a partnership across the IS-8 sectors' trade associations, and be the person who makes it succeed.

You'll build relationships with policymakers, industry leaders and civil society; run roundtables, working groups and flagship events including techUK's annual AI conference; and make sure everything we say and do on AI adoption is credible, coherent and genuinely useful to our members - in step with techUK's wider AI policy and AI assurance work.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Knowledge and Experience

• Senior-level experience with the initiative and judgement to set a strategic plan - and the discipline to deliver it across multiple workstreams at once.
• A track record in event and programme management, including planning and hosting webinars, roundtables or conferences.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills - you can turn research and insight into a sharp agenda, briefing or article.
• Strong stakeholder and membership engagement experience, including recruiting new members or partners.
• The integrity and interpersonal skill to build trusted relationships across industry, government and civil society - and the confidence to represent techUK in the room.
• A collaborative, team-first mindset paired with the ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
• A genuine curiosity about UK technology policy, strategy or ecosystems - no coding required.

Desired Knowledge and Experience

• A broad understanding of the UK's AI ecosystem and the opportunities and barriers to AI adoption across industry.

Additional Information

This is a full time role based out of techUK's London offices, however techUK operates a flexible working policy.

This role profile is a guide to the work that is required but does not form part of any contract of employment and may change from time to time to reflect changing circumstances.

The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK prior to the commencement of employment.

The salary range for this role is £45,000-£65,000 per annum based upon experience plus discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.
