A leading health care provider in Farnborough seeks a Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join their team. Candidates must have phlebotomy skills and at least one year of experience, or be willing to undergo full training. The role involves assisting the nursing team with clinical tasks and ensuring high-quality patient care in a small, friendly practice.
We are looking for someone ideally with experience of working as a HCA within a GP Practice. You must have phlebotomy skills with a minimum of one years experience as an essential skill, if no GP Practice experience we can offer full training.
You will be working alongside our nursing team and our existing highly experienced HCA.
We are a small practice with 6500 patients and 3 partners. For this reason we have limited room space so the hours and days are quite specific. We can have some flexibility if you want more or less hours but initially we are looking at the following:
Monday: ideally all day from 8-6.30pm but you could do less hours if wanted
Tuesday: ideally 3-8pm
Friday: 8-12
The main duties of the role would be to assist the nursing team. You would be expected to carry out the following duties along with additional duties as required by the team:
ECG
BP/weight
Diabetes foot checks
We are a small friendly surgery in North Camp Farnborough with 6500 patients. We have a rapidly increasing patient list which is why we are looking for another HCA to join the team.
We have 3 female partners and have a very good team spirit amongst the staff.
Job Summary:
The postholder will work as amember of the Health Care Team offering directed treatments to meet the needsof patients under indirect supervision of the Registered Practice Nurse and orGeneral Practitioner.

1) Clinical
Toprovide high quality patient care
To work as a supervised memberof the health care team, performing delegated nursing duties, for example:
Venepuncture
ECGs
Injections ie,Flu
Urine testing
Blood pressuremonitoring
Ordering of healthpromotion literature
Ordering of stockfrom local hospital
Lifestyle Adviceand Education
Well PersonClinic
Any other dutiesassigned to this role
Identified areas for Trainingwill also be provided

To run health promotion anddisease related clinics under the supervision of the Practice Nurse.
Ensure that thecare given meets the requirements of local and national guidelines, policiesand standards including the Quality Outcome Framework (QoF)
Respond tomedical emergencies, incidents and accidents, as directed and as competent todo so. Is
Trained in BasicLife Support.
To undertakeinitial health assessments at reception and highlight concerns to Nurse or GPon duty.
To be responsiblefor the ordering of repeat medication as prescribed by the GP, safe keeping andprocesses for the storing of all medicines/drugs according to NMC standards andNorth East Hampshire CCG.
To ensure thatall daily records for fridge temperature, key safe log, emergency drug box andcupboard are checked within the correct timescales and any anomalies arereported to the Medical Director in absence of the Practice Nurse.
Maintain ColdChain procedures
Provideinformation, advice and support to patients face to face and via the telephone.
Promote &participate in maintaining a safe comfortable & therapeutic environment.
Involved in teamdiscussions to ensure best practice
To participate inoutreach clinics providing healthcare and lifestyle advice to hard-to-reachgroups
To work with theethos of North Camp Surgery with the aim of achieving the key PerformanceIndicators required by CCG.
Use appropriateinfection control procedures and maintain work areas in each clinical room sothat they are clean, safe and free from hazards reporting of any potentialrisks identified, including:
1. hand washing
2. universal hygieneprocedures
3. collection and handlingof laboratory specimens
4. segregation and disposalof waste materials
5. decontamination ofinstruments and clinical equipment
6. reporting and treatmentof sharps injuries
7. dealing with blood andbody fluid spillages
8.Assist patients and colleagues in adopting sound infection control measures
2) Administration
To maintainaccurate records and data on Treatment Room activities in a timely fashionusing EMIS clinical system.
To work as aneffective team member and promote a multi-agency collaborative approach tohealth care.
Maintain theestablished reporting documentation and communication system to ensureefficient evaluation and monitoring.
Report and recordall clinical incidents to Practice Manager.
Maintain andensure the effective use of clinical stock levels
3) Communication
Establish andmaintain effective working relationships with individuals and other health carepartnerships.
To communicateeffectively using a variety of communications skills: verbal, & non-verbal,written and electronic, with a range of individuals and organisations withinthe NHS.
Make allreasonable attempts to overcome any barriers to understanding that may occur,giving due consideration to ethnicity, language, educational ability, barrierscaused by illness/distress etc. which may adversely affect communication.
Assess individualcommunication needs and understanding for informed consent.
Working with interpreters[link workers] for non-English speaking patients.
4) Education, Training &Research
To takeresponsibility for own professional development undertaking training forspecific clinical tasks
Participate inclinical audit
Participate inresearch programmes as appropriate.
Participate inthe development and implementation of standards and audit activities.
Attend allmandatory training courses and the updates and any study days as appropriate tothe post
