Job Summary
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assist in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Main duties of the job
Undertake general patient observations inc temp, pulse , blood pressure, Oxygen saturation levels, as per NICE Guidelines, recording general appearance fluid balance, and report anything untoward to the registered health professional
Under supervision of the registered health professional , undertake a range of clinical duties and skills (including insertion and removal of venous cannula, removal of urinary catheters, undertaking simple dry dressings using an aseptic technique, venepuncture, collection of patient specimens for laboratory testing, preparation and assistance in clinical procedures, urinary catheter etc), undertake the recordings of ECG Participate in the evaluation of care and completion of patient documents.
Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. calmly.
Undertake transfer and escort of patients as identified by the supervising registered health professional depending on the patientsdependency, as directed to Theatres, Catheter Labs and other Clinical Department for investigations
Undertake safe disposal of waste and sharps as per Trust policy
Care of patient's property and valuables in accordance with Trust policy
Support the role of ward clerk / patient liaison clerk
