Job summary

Biffa Waste Services is seeking an experienced Plant Operative for the Wednesbury Hazardous Waste Transfer Station. The role is 45 hours per week on rotating shifts (07:00–16:00 and 09:00–18:00, Monday–Friday) with potential weekend work on occasion.

You will handle the acceptance, treatment and dispatch of hazardous waste, meeting daily targets in a busy environment. Candidates must hold an in-date Counterbalance FLT licence and be prepared for manual handling duties, cleaning and general site

Qualifications

• Ability to work as part of a team in a busy waste transfer environment.
• Strong focus on health and safety procedures and practices.
• Willingness to perform manual handling and housekeeping tasks.
• Flexibility to cover occasional weekends or varied start/finish times.

Responsibilities

• Accept, process and dispatch packed waste materials at the transfer station.
• Operate and supervise physical treatment and movement of hazardous waste items.
• Meet daily targets while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Assist with weighing, repacking and general site housekeeping as required.
• Receive training across all aspects of the process and comply with health and safety policies.
