Job summary

Veolia Site Chemist in Cambridge is a hands-on role supporting hazardous waste operations at the AstraZeneca Discovery Centre. The role manages chemical waste processes and ensures regulatory and internal documentation is complete for waste activities.

You will liaise with suppliers and disposal facilities to guarantee safe waste handling, manage storage, and assist daily operations within the waste management team.

Qualifications

• Ideally a Chemistry-related qualification (HNC/degree or A-Level in Chemistry).
• Ability to work independently and solve problems.
• Numerate, literate and computer literate with good communication.
• Knowledge of hazardous waste and COSHH health and safety understood.
• Valid driving licence and comfortable driving a 3.5t van.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for the Site Manager in implementing hazardous waste operations.
• System management of chemical waste processes at the Discovery Centre.
• Complete regulatory and internal documentation for waste activities.
• Liaise with facility suppliers to ensure safe waste presentation.
• Coordinate with Veolia and third-party disposal facilities for compliant waste removal.
• Manage hazardous waste storage areas.
• Support daily waste collection, accumulation, treatment, packaging and dispatch.
