Job summary

Nicholas Associates in South Yorkshire is seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead a skilled hardware team through concept, design, verification and production readiness, with travel to third parties as required. You will drive delivery against milestones, set clear ownership, mentor engineers and maintain engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong background in electronic hardware development.
• Circuit/PCB design experience including analogue and digital circuitry.
• Engineering leadership experience delivering against project commitments.
• Experience in product development lifecycle and lifecycle management.
• Excellent technical communication and hands-on problem-solving skills.
• Strong planning and prioritisation with a proactive work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of the Hardware Engineering team against milestones.
• Establish clear ownership and accountable deliverables for the team.
• Identify risks early and mitigate them to protect schedules.
• Collaborate with programme management to evidence progress and estimates.
• Drive work packages to completion with quality and traceability.
• Provide technical leadership and direction for hardware design.
• Balance performance, cost, time to market, compliance, and manufacturability.
• Lead hardware design reviews with proper documentation and risk analysis.
• Maintain engineering standards and documentation practices.
• Lead the hardware team and conduct regular performance reviews.
• Engage with Product Management to align problems and solutions with customer needs.
• Coordinate with QA and Production/Supply Chain to resolve issues.
