Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Hardware Engineer - Digital to join a leading defence contractor on an on-site Rochester role. The contract is 12 months long and paid at 80 per hour Umbrella inside IR35.

You will deliver complex hardware design activities, capture requirements, and create preliminary and detailed designs, while conducting analyses to ensure robust solutions. The role includes mentoring junior engineers and producing artefacts to industry standards.

Qualifications

• Experience across the full engineering development lifecycle, from concept to product certification.
• Strong awareness of cost and schedule constraints to meet programme needs.
• Proven ability to provide robust engineering judgement across development phases.

Responsibilities

Hardware Engineer - Digital

Rochester Based

80 per hour Umbrella inside IR35

12 Month Contract

Currently recruiting for a Hardware Engineer - Digital to work within one of the Uk's leading defence organisations in Rochester. This role is full time on site.

This role focuses on delivering complex hardware design activities in line with development plans, budgets and schedules. It includes capturing requirements, producing preliminary and detailed designs, and performing the necessary analysis to ensure robust solutions. The position encourages innovation by identifying improvements to both design approaches and wider engineering practices, while working collaboratively with other disciplines to optimise system level outcomes and manage dependencies effectively.

Alongside technical delivery, the role provides guidance and support across digital and analogue electronics development, helping ensure high quality engineering outputs. It also involves coaching junior engineers to build capability within the team and producing design artefacts that meet company and industry standards.

Knowledge:

• You will have proven knowledge and experience of digital &/or analogue electronics technologies
• You will have experience of working through the engineering development lifecycle, from concept to product certification
• You will have a robust understanding of product design and work package control
• Ability to demonstrate a good appreciation of cost and schedule constraints on designs, to meet programme needs
• Familiarity with Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise, Simetrix, LT Spice tools

Skills:

• You will have the ability to demonstrate a good appreciation of cost and schedule constraints on designs, to meet programme needs and capable of providing robust engineering judgement in all phases of the engineering development lifecycle
• It is also desirable to have experience of Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise, Analogue simulations tools, such as Simetrix or Spice and System development tools, such as Enterprise Architect, Matlab, Simulink
