Job summary

Searchability is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer for UK classified defence programmes. The role is based in Ampthill with on-site requirements on Monday and Tuesday, and potential additional on-site work as needed.

BPSS is required to start, with eligibility to obtain Security Clearance (SC). You will design electronic hardware across digital and analogue systems, perform schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer, and support verification and qualification activities across

Qualifications

• HNC/HND/BEng or equivalent Electronics qualification.
• Experience in Electronics Hardware Design & Product Development.
• Proven digital and analogue electronics design experience.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Hands-on experience with Altium Designer.
• IPC and EMC awareness at product/PCB level.
• Experience with Windchill or another PLM tool.
• Ability to support Assembly, Integration & Test.
• Experience producing technical documentation.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills.
• BPSS to start and willingness/ability to obtain SC Clearance.

Responsibilities

ELECTRONICS DESIGN ENGINEER

• Electronics Design Engineer – Defence / UK Classified Programmes
• Up to £61 per hour via Umbrella – initial 6-month contract
• Ampthill – Monday & Tuesday onsite mandatory, with additional onsite requirements when needed
• BPSS to start, with SC Clearance required – must be willing and able to obtain SC

Our client is a leading organisation within the UK defence sector, delivering advanced engineering and technology solutions across complex and highly regulated programmes. Due to continued programme requirements, they are looking for an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to support hardware design, product development, integration and testing across UK classified programmes.

THE ELECTRONICS DESIGN ENGINEER ROLE:

As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will support the design and development of electronic hardware across digital and analogue systems. You will be involved in schematic capture, PCB layout, product development, Assembly, Integration & Test, verification and qualification activities.

You will use Altium Designer, work with Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Windchill, and produce technical documentation covering requirements, trade studies, compliance evidence and testing. You will also coordinate stakeholders and contribute to the successful delivery of classified engineering programmes.

ELECTRONICS DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

• HNC/HND/BEng or equivalent formal Electronics qualification
• Experience in Electronics Hardware Design & Product Development
• Proven Digital and Analogue Electronics Design experience
• Experience with Schematic Capture and PCB Layout
• Hands-on experience with Altium Designer
• IPC awareness and EMC awareness at product and PCB level
