Job summary

Copello seeks an experienced Electronics Engineer for a 12 month contract (Inside IR35) in Harlow, on site, to develop advanced Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems for defence markets. You will work on digital electronics and embedded firmware across multiple programmes.

The role covers design of DSPs, microcontrollers, FPGAs, memory, ADCs/DACs and power supplies, with FPGA-based architectures and VHDL/Embedded C. Collaboration with hardware, software and systems engineers is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage electronic design requirements in line with standards.
• Design and develop digital hardware with DSPs, microcontrollers, FPGAs, memory, ADCs, DACs and power supplies.
• Create and manage architectures for digital electronics and embedded firmware, particularly FPGA-based systems.
• Decompose, analyse and verify technical design requirements.
• Develop FPGA designs using VHDL and Embedded C.
• Define and perform unit- and subsystem-level testing of embedded firmware.
• Produce and maintain hardware and firmware design documentation.
• Create detailed test documentation and verification reports.
• Produce firmware simulation, timing and power analysis reports.
• Collaborate with embedded systems, software and electronics engineers throughout the lifecycle.
• Participate in technical reviews and support release of documentation.

Electronics Engineer

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electronics Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team developing advanced Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems for the military and defence market.

The successful candidate will work across a range of product development programmes, supporting the design, development, integration and verification of digital electronics and embedded firmware.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage electronic design requirements in line with relevant standards.
• Design and develop digital hardware incorporating DSPs, microcontrollers, FPGAs, memory, ADCs, DACs and power supplies.
• Create and manage architectures for digital electronics and embedded firmware, particularly FPGA-based systems.
• Decompose, analyse and verify technical design requirements.
• Develop FPGA designs using VHDL and Embedded C.
• Define and perform unit-level and subsystem-level testing of embedded firmware.
• Produce and maintain hardware and firmware design documentation.
• Create detailed test documentation and verification reports.
• Produce firmware simulation, timing and power analysis reports.
• Work closely with embedded systems, software and electronics engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
• Participate in technical reviews and support the formal release of engineering documentation.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience creating top-level digital electronics design architectures.
• Experience with requirements analysis, testing and verification.
• Practical experience working with DSPs, microcontrollers, memory, ADCs, DACs and power supply technologies.
• Experience working with FPGAs and SoC technologies.
• Ability to understand and interpret VHDL code.
• Experience analysing and reporting technical data.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic engineering environment.
• Willingness to learn new techniques and technologies.
• Eligible for, or currently holding, UK SC security clearance.

Desirable Experience

• Experience using Xilinx Vivado and Vitis, or equivalent FPGA development tools.
• Experience working with Xilinx FPGA devices.
• Experience delivering embedded firmware as part of a complete product.
• Knowledge of Embedded C.
• Experience developing embedded system architectures.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles across the design and development lifecycle.
• Knowledge of defence engineering and/or airborne standards.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink
