Job summary

Cosworth Group Holdings Limited is seeking a Hard Gauge Technician to perform inline inspection of Powertrain components at the Advanced Manufacturing Centre. You will use precision measuring equipment to verify engineering specifications and maintain quality standards.

You will identify non-conformances, report to Production and Engineering, and collaborate on investigations while contributing to 5S and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment and interpreting measurement results.
• Good IT skills (Word and Excel).
• Willingness to work as part of an integrated team.
• Engineering apprenticeship is desirable.
• Knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T advantageous.
• Experience with metrology or operating a CMM would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Identify, report and escalate quality concerns or non-conformances to Production and Engineering.

• Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure compliance with procedures.

Job Description:

As a Hard Gauge Technician, you will carry out inline inspection of Powertrain components within our Advanced Manufacturing Centre. Using a range of precision measuring equipment, you will ensure components meet engineering specifications, identify non-conformances, and work closely with Production and Engineering to maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement.

The Role:

• Carry out inline inspection of manufactured engine blocks, cylinder heads and other Powertrain components in line with engineering requirements.
• Use a range of precision measuring equipment, including digital calipers, micrometers, air gauges, thread gauges, plug gauges, Rok-It gauges and a Mahr contour tracer.
• Complete inspections accurately and within the required timescales to support production.
• Identify, report and elevate any quality concerns or non-conformances to Production and Engineering teams.
• Work collaboratively with Engineering to support investigation and resolution of quality issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and 5S activities within the department.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure compliance with quality procedures.
• Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
• Support the Company's compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 by following company policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile:

• Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment and interpreting measurement results.
• Strong attention to detail with a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• A positive, flexible approach and willingness to work as part of an integrated team.
• An engineering apprenticeship is desirable.
• An understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T would be advantageous.
• Experience within metrology or operating a CMM would be beneficial
