Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited seeks a Handyperson / Maintenance Operative to join the HMP Winchester facilities team. This role is based on site at a category B prison and supports the delivery of safe, well-maintained accommodation and infrastructure.

You will work with a team of trades and support staff to ensure building fabric maintenance and repairs are completed to high standards, while prioritising safety and security requirements within a prison environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of prison environment (Desirable).
• Experience of use of hand and power tools.
• Previous experience of working within a building fabric / Hard FM environment.
• Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification.
• Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.

We are seeking a practical and confident Handyperson / Maintenance Operative to join our team at HMP Winchester, a category B, adult male prison as an Escort / Fabric Operative.

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
