PRS are now in need of a Handyperson to undertake planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs to plant and equipment, along with supporting the day-to-day operations of M&E services across Street, Somerset.

Job Purpose:

To ensure the successful day-to-day delivery of routine planned and reactive fabric maintenance tasks. This may include the coordination of specialist sub-contractors and liaison with the on-site management team.
To look out for the best interests of the client customers with great customer service and a pro-active approach to maintaining the best possible facilities environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve building fabric installations efficiently with minimal supervision, according to specified standards.
  • Work proactively to identify building fabric issues before they occur.
  • Help devise routine inspections specific to client sites to enhance proactive maintenance.
  • Typical tasks include:
  • General carpentry maintenance.
  • Roof inspections & maintenance (gutter clearing, etc.).
  • Repairs to locks/windows.
  • Installation of fixtures, fittings, shelving, etc.
  • Jet-washing.
  • Minor plumbing repairs – clearing blocked urinals, hand basins, and WCs.
  • Minor repairs/adjustments to flooring.
  • Painting, touch-up, and repairs to decoration.
  • Patch repairs to plastering.
  • Office moves involving assembly of desks & furniture.
  • Ensure all work activities comply with safety policies, procedures, codes of practice, and regulations.
  • Maintain standards of quality, health, safety, and environment; report issues promptly.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute small works projects, supporting with quotations for additional works.
  • Be flexible to undertake duties as operationally required, including overtime.
  • Prepare materials lists and plan work activities.
  • Train and assist colleagues and other technicians.
  • Participate in emergency response teams as needed.
  • Complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time.
  • Attend training and team meetings regularly.
  • Work collaboratively within the wider M&E maintenance team.
  • Undertake additional duties as required.
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of commercial building fabric and installation activities, working to Planned Preventative Maintenance regimes.
  • Understand lone working requirements and health & safety processes.
Character:
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Capable of making sound decisions.
  • Physically fit to carry tools and components, compliant with manual handling regulations.
  • Able to ascend/descend vertical access equipment and work at heights.
  • Work independently and on initiative.
  • Willing to undertake overtime if offered.
