Job summary

Randstad CPE in Chatham (ME4/ME5) urgently recruits a skilled Painter & Decorator for a short-term cover role starting tomorrow, Friday 16th October 2026.

The assignment runs for 1 week, focusing on interior and exterior preparation, finishing, and touch-ups to ensure high-quality decoration before site sign-off. Hours are 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, paid weekly via CIS, Umbrella, or PAYE options.

Qualifications

• Proven background as a Painter & Decorator (qualified or time-served).
• Own painting tools and PPE as required.
• Right to work in the UK and CSCS card preferred.

Responsibilities

• Surface preparation including sanding, filling, scraping and priming.
• Apply emulsion, gloss, undercoat and specialist coatings with attention to detail.
• Snagging and touch-up work to ensure clean lines around trims, doors and windows.

Start Date: Tomorrow, Friday 16th October 2026

Contract Duration: 1 Week Cover

Working Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (40 paid hours per week)

Pay Rate: £18.00 - £20.00 per hour (dependent on pay structure and experience)

About the Role

We are urgently recruiting a skilled Painter & Decorator for a short-term cover role on a project in Chatham, starting tomorrow, Friday 16th October 2026.

This is a 1-week contract focusing on interior and exterior preparation, finishing, and touch-ups to ensure high-quality decoration before site sign-off.

Key Responsibilities

• Surface preparation including sanding, filling, scraping, priming, and making good walls, woodwork, and ceilings.
• Internal and external painting applying emulsion, gloss, undercoat, and specialist coatings with high attention to detail.
• Snagging, touch-up work, and ensuring clean, straight lines around trims, doors, and window frames.
• Protecting surrounding areas, flooring, and fittings using dust sheets and masking tape.
• Maintaining a tidy work zone and keeping painting equipment thoroughly cleaned at the end of shifts.

Requirements

• Valid CSCS Card (Skilled Worker Blue/Gold Card preferred; Green CSCS accepted with proven trade experience).
• Own Whites, Hand & Painting Tools (Brushes, rollers, trays, scuttle buckets, filling knives, prep tools).
• Full PPE (Steel toe-cap boots, high-vis vest/jacket, and hard hat).
• Proven background as a qualified or time-served Painter & Decorator.
• Dependable, efficient, and able to work independently to a high standard.
• Right to work in the UK.

Working Hours & Benefits

• Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
• Dates: Friday, 16th October 2026 - Friday, 23rd October 2026 (1 week cover).
• Location: Chatham (ME4 / ME5).
• Fast, weekly pay via CIS, Umbrella, or PAYE options.
