Job summary

Niyaa People Ltd is recruiting a Handyman to support a long-term maintenance programme across the Wigan Borough. The role offers a company vehicle, and applicants based in Wigan/Leigh area are preferred with potential for permanency as workload grows.

The job involves practical, varied daily tasks: identifying issues, completing repairs independently, and recording work with forms and photos. Experience in social housing or property maintenance is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience in general property maintenance or handyman work.
• Ability to work independently and manage a list of tasks.
• Confidence using a smartphone or tablet to record work.
• Driving licence is required; Asbestos Awareness certification is advantageous (training can be provided).

Responsibilities

• Carrying out mould washing and treatment.
• Investigating and repairing minor plumbing leaks.
• Sealing around baths and door frames.
• Lifting and relaying small sections of paving.
• Removing trip hazards.
• Repairing and securing handrails.
• Completing general minor repairs and making good.
• Recording completed work using simple forms and before and after photographs.

Job description

Start ASAP in a Handyman role with a company vehicle provided and ongoing work on a long-term maintenance programme across the Wigan Borough. Applicants should ideally be based in Wigan or Leigh, with the potential for a permanent position as the workload grows.

This is a practical role with varied work each day, suited to someone who can identify maintenance issues and complete repairs independently to a good standard.

I'd love to see CVs from anyone who has worked as a Handyman, Skilled Labourer, Property Maintenance Operative or similar within social housing or general property maintenance.

As a Handyman, you will be:

• Carrying out mould washing and treatment
• Investigating and repairing minor plumbing leaks
• Sealing around baths and door frames
• Lifting and relaying small sections of paving
• Removing trip hazards
• Repairing and securing handrails
• Completing general minor repairs and making good
• Recording completed work using simple forms and before and after photographs

I'd love to speak to anyone who has:

• Experience in general property maintenance or handyman work
• Confidence carrying out a range of minor repairs
• The ability to work independently and manage a list of tasks
• A reliable approach and professional manner when working in occupied properties
• Confidence using a smartphone or tablet to record work
• A driving licence
• Current Asbestos Awareness certification (advantageous, although training can be provided on starting)
