Job summary

Sonardyne UK seeks a hands-on Manufacturing Test Engineer for our Blackbushe facility to test, diagnose and fault-find across our underwater electronic products. You will ensure quality, reliability and performance before final assembly.

You will use oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies and other test equipment to verify component and system functionality, documenting results to support continuous improvement and production schedules.

Qualifications

• HNC in Electronics or equivalent qualification with practical experience.
• Proven experience in electronic testing and diagnostic fault finding down to component level.
• Confidence using test equipment: oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies and timer/counters.
• Ability to read circuit diagrams, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Methodical, logical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical, electronic and tank testing throughout the manufacturing process, from component and PCB level through to chassis assemblies and finished products.
• Diagnose and resolve electronic faults, including component-level fault finding, adjustments and repairs.
• Use a range of electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies and timer/counters.
• Read and interpret circuit diagrams, engineering drawings, assembly drawings and technical documentation to support testing and fault diagnosis.
• Identify potential design, specification or manufacturing non-conformances and work with Production Engineering to resolve them.
• Raise and document non-conformance reports, observations and engineering change requests in accordance with our Quality Management System.
• Ensure testing activities are completed to the required quality standards and within agreed production timescales wherever possible.
• Maintain accurate test records, results, calibration information and supporting documentation.
• Support basic assembly activities when required to assist with testing and production requirements.
• Use our ERP and internal IT systems to access technical information, check parts and support day-to-day manufacturing activities.
• Work closely with colleagues across Production Engineering, Quality, Stores and Manufacturing to resolve technical issues and keep production moving.
• Support fellow Test Engineers and the wider Manufacturing team whenever extra hands or expertise is needed.
