Job summary

Reed has partnered with a beautiful tourist attraction to recruit a Site & Facilities Supervisor in Saffron Walden. The role is hands-on, overseeing maintenance across buildings, utilities and site facilities while ensuring safety, quality and timely completion of projects.

You will lead a small team, plan daily workloads, and coordinate tasks around visitor schedules and open days, maintaining high standards of presentation and safety throughout the site.

Qualifications

• Strong practical, maintenance or facilities background.
• Experience supervising and organising a team.
• Ability to plan and prioritise workloads effectively.
• Proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
• Hands-on experience in maintenance and repair work.
• Commitment to safety and high standards of work.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to support different areas of the railway as required.
• Comfortable working weekends as part of the normal working pattern.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the Site & Facilities team, allocating daily tasks and providing practical guidance.
• Manage and prioritise the department job list to ensure maintenance and projects stay on track.
• Plan workloads around operational requirements, visitor schedules and wider site priorities.
• Carry out and oversee general maintenance and repairs across buildings, infrastructure, utilities, drainage and site facilities.
• Co-ordinate and support grounds maintenance tasks such as hedge trimming, tree care and pathway maintenance.
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
• Undertake site improvement projects, small construction works, repairs and installations.
• Manage labour, materials and tasks to ensure projects are completed safely, to a good standard and within agreed timescales.
• Provide Engineering and Site & Facilities cover during operational running on a rotation basis.
• Respond quickly and effectively to issues that arise during open days.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health, safety and security procedures.
