Job summary

Greene King is seeking an Assistant Manager to help run The Cricketers pub. You will lead, coach and develop the team, ensuring outstanding customer experiences and smooth day-to-day operations on the floor.

You will work closely with the General Manager, take ownership of shifts, and drive guest satisfaction through excellent service, community engagement and sales growth, including events and live sport.

Qualifications

• Previous hospitality management experience.
• Experience in a busy pub, bar or restaurant environment.
• Strong people-management skills and a genuine interest in developing others.
• The confidence to make decisions, take ownership and lead from the front.
• The role is hands-on; you’ll work alongside your team.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the General Manager with day-to-day running of the pub and stepping up in their absence.
• Taking ownership of shifts and making confident decisions to keep the business running smoothly.
• Leading, coaching and developing our established team to reach their potential.
• Creating a welcoming atmosphere where customers feel valued and want to return.
• Delivering excellent service across our drinks, pub classics and small plates.
• Driving trade through live sport, events and other activities to boost sales.
• Building strong relationships with regulars and the local community.
• Maintaining high standards across service, cleanliness, safety and compliance.
• Identifying opportunities to grow sales and improve business performance.
• Keeping the team motivated, organised and ready to deliver, even when busy.
