Job summary

Ambitions Personnel in Whittlesey is recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to maintain and improve heavy‑duty plant across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Two shift patterns are available, both Monday–Friday with no weekend work. The role involves hands‑on fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance and working with contractors to keep equipment reliable.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in mechanical engineering
• Electrical qualification with practical electrical maintenance experience
• Strong mechanical engineering knowledge
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Proven fault-finding skills on electrical and mechanical systems
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
• Methodical approach to diagnosing faults and solving problems
• Experience on industrial plant or heavy-duty equipment
• Ability to work independently and take ownership
• Good communication with contractors and other departments

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on industrial plant and machinery
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
• Read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
• Operate and control plant systems
• Work across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• Identify root causes and implement long-term solutions
• Support plant upgrades and continuous improvement projects
• Perform preventative maintenance to maximise availability
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and minimise downtime
• Lead and supervise contractors on site
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping
• Collaborate with production and operations teams to run the plant safely and efficiently
