Job summary

Synergi Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a busy recycling and manufacturing site in the Middlesbrough area. The role focuses on welding and fabrication with additional mechanical maintenance across plant and machinery.

You will keep equipment safe and reliable, using MIG/Arc welding, conveyors, hydraulics and pneumatics. A practical, safety-minded engineer who can fault-find and contribute to continuous improvement is ideal.

Qualifications

Must have strong welding and fabrication experience (MIG / Arc essential).
Experience in heavy industry, recycling or manufacturing environments preferred.
Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and general mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical maintenance, servicing and repair of plant and mobile machinery.
Carry out MIG and arc welding to repair and fabricate machine guards, chutes and structural supports.
Use plasma cutters, grinders and oxy-fuel tools for fabrication work.
Maintain and repair conveyors, shredders, hydraulics, pneumatics and screening systems.
Diagnose mechanical faults, replace bearings and shafts, support machine overhauls and installations.
Ensure all work is carried out safely and to a high standard.
Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
