Job summary

New Appointments Group is seeking a practical Mechanical Assembly & Fitter for a busy engineering operation in Sittingbourne. The role focuses on assembly, fitting and preparation of components, with some stores support.

You will work with mechanical components, following drawings and specs, using hand and power tools to high standards. This is a hands-on position in a workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical assembly, fitting, or manufacturing preferred.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Able to read and follow engineering drawings, diagrams and instructions.
• Good practical and mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach.
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physically fit with manual handling ability.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical assembly and fitting of components and equipment.
• Assemble sub-assemblies and finished products per drawings and instructions.
• Use hand and power tools to complete tasks.
• Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and assembly instructions.
• Measure and check components for correct fit and finish.
• Identify and report issues with components or assemblies.
• Carry out basic adjustments and modifications as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop and assembly area.
• Prepare components and materials for assembly.
• Receive and move incoming materials and check items.
• Support stock checks and organisation of parts and materials.
• Assist with general workshop duties and other engineering tasks.
• Follow all health, safety and quality procedures.
