New Appointments Group seeks a practical Mechanical Assembly & Fitter to join a busy engineering operation in Sittingbourne. You will assemble components and prepare equipment to drawings, using hand and power tools, with a focus on quality and safety.

The role suits someone with hands-on mechanical or engineering background who can work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced setting. Physical work and manual handling are involved.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical assembly and fitting.
• Able to read engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Physically fit with manual handling capability.
• Forklift licence is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical assembly and fitting of components and equipment.
• Assemble sub-assemblies and finished products per drawings and work instructions.
• Use hand and power tools to complete tasks safely and accurately.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly instructions.
• Measure components to ensure correct fit and finish.
• Identify and report issues with components or assemblies.
• Carry out basic adjustments and modifications when required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop and area.
• Support stores and stock checks; assist with general workshop duties.
• Follow health, safety and quality procedures at all times.
