Job summary

Brook Street is seeking a Maintenance Operative/Handyman to keep our facilities and machinery running smoothly across multiple sites. You will carry out repairs, inspections, basic electrical, plumbing and mechanical tasks, and support contractors when needed.

The role requires practical hands-on skills, the ability to diagnose faults quickly, good communication with staff, and a flexible approach to daytime hours with occasional on-call evenings.

Qualifications

• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to understand machinery and apply practical troubleshooting skills.
• Competence in basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical tasks.
• Ability to analyse issues, identify defects, and determine effective solutions.
• Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with contractors and staff.
• Full driving licence (required for site call-outs and travel between locations).
• Daytime hours with occasional evening call-outs for machinery breakdowns.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs, maintenance, inspections, and cleaning to keep facilities and machinery operating safely and efficiently.
• Respond to faults quickly, diagnose issues and rectify problems to minimise downtime.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance across production equipment and site infrastructure.
• Carry out inspections to identify defects, wear, and safety or performance issues.
• Use hand tools and power tools to complete maintenance tasks to a high standard.
• Undertake basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work within scope of competence.
• Work across multiple sites when required, supporting maintenance needs beyond the main premises.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment and coordinate with contractors and staff.
