Job summary

Edge Recruits is assisting a small, independent shop and creative café in the Totnes area to recruit a General Manager. This hands-on role covers café, retail and creative activities, with responsibility for day-to-day operations and staff management.

You will lead a small team, ensure smooth everyday running, and work closely with the founders on developing the business while maintaining welcoming, high-quality service and presentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of management experience in hospitality or retail.
• Experience coordinating a small team and daily operations.
• Strong customer service and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee café and shop day-to-day operations.
• Manage rotas, training and performance of staff.
• Maintain high standards of service, cleanliness and presentation.
• Oversee stock, orders and supplier relations.
• Ensure pottery painting and workshops run smoothly.
• Implement small systems to keep the business organised.
• Collaborate with founders on business development.
