Job summary

Aldenham Estate is seeking a technically strong Financial Accountant to own the accounting cycle, including month-end close, reconciliations, VAT, payroll, and banking controls. The role operates onsite with flexible working, reports to the Head of Finance, and supports system improvements and multi-entity accounting across a diversified family-owned estate.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification with strong technical accounting capability.
• Strong financial accounting, month-end and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
• Experience preparing management accounts and supporting year-end statutory accounts.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, banking processes, VAT and payroll administration.
• Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close across all entities, including journals, accruals and reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT returns, year-end schedules and audit files; maintain the compliance calendar.
• Prepare short-term cash-flow forecasts and manage banking controls and access.
• Coordinate payroll administration with outsourced provider; ensure invoicing and reconciliations run on time.
• Support replacement of the finance system and its integration with Re-Leased; document key procedures.
• Own technical accounting, controls and operational finance processes to ensure accuracy and audit-readiness.
